Biography
Attorney Jorge Capó previously was the senior labor and employment lawyer at O'Neill & Borges, LLC, Puerto Rico's leading full-service law firm. The Capo Law Office can now provide clients with legal, HR and administrative counseling and legal representation which benefits from over 40 years of specialized legal experience counseling and representing private sector businesses.
A graduate from the University of Puerto Rico (Juris Doctor) and the University of Pennsylvania (Master of Laws-LL.M) law schools, Capó joined the O'Neill & Borges law firm in 1980. Five years later he was invited to the partnership. As Head of the firm's Labor Department he continued to personally advise and represent clients, while also mentoring and supervising other lawyers.
In 1995, Capó counseled the Puerto Rico executive and legislative branches in successfully approving Labor Reform legislation. Later, in 1998 he counseled the local government in approving a bill which would become Puerto Rico's Minimum Wage, Vacation and Sick Leave Law. More recently, Capó advised the Puerto executive branch on contemplated Labor Reform legislation (Law No. 4-2017).
Mr. Capó also teaches Labor Relations and Employment Law courses at the University of Puerto Rico-School of Business Administration.
